We take advantage of introducing the Aoshima brand into our model catalog to give a brief overview of its history and product range.
Aoshima is a Japanese brand that originated in Shizuoka in 1924 under the guidance of Jiro Aoshima as an Aeronautical Research Institute. A few years later, in 1929, they began manufacturing their first wooden models, leveraging their expertise in the aviation sector.
It wasn’t until 1961 when the brand established itself as Aoshima Bunka Kyozai Inc., and it was also when they started developing their first plastic models. Since then, they have continued to grow, becoming one of the leading plastic model brands in Japan.
Among their items, you can find not only airplanes but also cars, motorcycles, and even scenery pieces and fantasy character models from Japanese culture. However, they are globally known for their excellent 1:24 scale car models, primarily featuring Japanese brands like Nissan, Mitsubishi, Toyota, etc.
At the moment, our catalog offers a good assortment of car models, all presented as plastic assembly kits in 1:24 scale. You will also find 1:72 scale models of Japanese military aircraft. In the coming months, we will be adding new products to enhance the automotive and aeronautical repertoire available on our website.
Aoshima models are highly regarded among enthusiasts, although they are not always easy to find in our country. Their range of model kits is extensive, and their quality-to-price ratio is among the best in the modeling market.
Among our new products, two different versions of the Nissan GT-R R35 with LB Works aero kits stand out, one in black and the other in white (versions 1.5 and 2).
We also have from Nissan, the renowned off-road vehicle Nissan Terrano in its 1991 version, and the classic sports car Nissan Skyline R34 from the year 2002.
Another off-road vehicle that has arrived is the Mitsubishi Pajero (marketed in Spain as Montero), also from the year 1991.
From Toyota, we have the GT86 model with the Rocket Bunny aero-kit by GReddy in black, and the Toyota Celsior UCF 31 (known in Europe as Lexus LS), with an AimGain body kit and a performance-style finish (20-inch wheels and lowered springs).
Furthermore, among the new additions to the catalog, we have several very special cars for fans of 80s and 90s TV series and movies: you will find KITT, the car from the TV series Knight Rider (“El coche fantástico” in Spain), which is a black Pontiac Trans Am, driven by Knight (David Hasselhoff), as most of you will know. This model corresponds to the version used in the fourth season of the series.
We also have three different versions of the famous DeLorean DMC-12 that took Doc and Marty McFly to 1955 in the movie “Back to the Future”. In this case, we will have models corresponding to parts 1, 2, and 3 of the “Back to the Future” saga, each with their respective details that differentiate them.
To conclude, among the new arrivals, you will find two models of Japanese military airplanes: the Kawasaki KI-61-I Tei, better known as the “Tony Army Fighter”, famous for being the only Japanese fighter mass-produced with a liquid-cooled V engine, and the Tei version features two Ho-103 12.7 mm machine guns on the wings; and the Kawanishi N1K1-Jb, known as the “Shiden Type 11”, considered the best Japanese land-based fighter due to its great maneuverability and heavy armament, something unusual for Japanese fighters.
Available as well is the version of the Kawasaki KI-61-I Tei Type 3 Hen 244 Flight Regiment “Tony Army Fighter”. The Shiden 11B “Otsu” differed from the 11A “Kou” with its revised wing armaments. The 20mm cannons were exchanged for the belt-fed Mark 4, with the four cannons housed in its main wing.
